Bio

Elisaveta Bykova was a Soviet woman grandmaster, chess author, and two-time Women's World Champion. In 1938, Bykova won the Women's Moscow Championship. Later, she won the Women's Soviet Chess Championship in 1946, 1947, and 1950.

Bykova's highest achievement came in 1953 when she defeated GM Lyudmila Rudenko to become the Women's World Champion. She lost her title three years later to WGM Olga Rubtsova but regained it in 1958.
